On the first day, Tajik judoka Madina Kurbonzoda won a gold medal in the 52 kg weight category at the Asian Judo Championship among cadets and juniors in Jakarta (Indonesia).

This is a sensational event for Tajik judo: Madina became the first girl in the country's history to win gold at the Asian Cadet Championships.

Madina started the tournament from the quarterfinals, where she won a landslide victory over Samira Dzharova from Kyrgyzstan. In the semi-final against Indian athlete Chaudhary Dhruvi Dahyabhai, the Tajik judoka showed a lightning reaction and completed the fight in a matter of seconds, making a bright passage to the finals.

The culmination was a decisive battle against a strong opponent from Uzbekistan, Nigina Umirzakova. The final lasted more than ten minutes and turned into a real test of character and endurance. Kurbonzoda withstood the tension and brought gold to Tajikistan.

"The Asian Cadet and Junior Championships are not only a chance to make a name for themselves on the continent, but also the first step towards world championships. Kurbonzoda's victory was the most important achievement for the national team, which is gradually strengthening its position in Asian judo," – the Tajikistan Judo Federation said.
