Tajik boxer Khusravkhon Rakhimov in the weight category up to 60 kg won a gold medal at an international tournament in Kazakhstan, defeating a Turkmen athlete in the final.

Aktau hosted the traditional international boxing tournament in memory of the founder of Kazakhstani boxing, the first master of sports of the USSR in Kazakhstan, Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shokyr Boltekuly.

About 100 athletes from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, China and Tajikistan attended the competition.

Tajikistan was represented at the tournament by international Master of Sports Khusravkhon Rakhimov, who competed in the weight category up to 60 kg. In the final, he defeated Ismail Gurbanberdiev from Turkmenistan with a score of 2:1 and won the gold medal.

Previously, Rakhimov competed in the category up to 57 kg. In 2023, he won a bronze medal at the Asian under-22 Youth Championship in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2024, he was a member of the Tajik national team at the Asian Championship.

Khusravkhon Rakhimov's victory in Aktau became the first international gold among adult athletes.

In an interview with "Asia-Plus", the 22-year-old boxer said that "this is a gift to my people for Independence Day." The athlete plans to participate and win in future world boxing championships among adults.
