DUSHANBE, October 7, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The findings of public monitoring of the implementation of the national poverty reduction strategy (PRS) were presented in Dushanbe on October 7.

Ms. Gulshod Sharipova, survey program manager, the Association of Scientific and Technical Intelligentsia of Tajikistan (ASTIT) says this monitoring is the first interim stage of the monitoring of the implementation of a number of the PRS points and its impact on living standards of 420 pilot families living in 30 cities and districts of the country.

According to her, the survey was conducted by the national development program monitoring support group that includes 19 civil society support organizations from various regions of the country.

“They have surveyed people’s access to medical services, education, qualitative nutrition and so forth in 2010 and they will study dynamic of development of these families till 2012,” Sharipova said, noting that they have also developed recommendations for the government on improvement of implementation of the national development programs.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), international organizations  as well as NGO heads and journalists attended the event organized by ASTIT.
