Tajik-Kazakh business forum opens in Tajik capital today

DUSHANBE, September 28, 2010, Asia-Plus — A two-day conference of representatives from business communities of Tajikistan and Kazakhstan has opened at the Hyatt Regency Dushanbe Hotel in Dushanbe today.

Organized by Kazakhstan’s National Agency for exports and Investments (KAZNEXINVEST) under support of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the forum has brought together representatives of Tajik and Kazakh business communities to discuss cooperation issues.

The Kazakh delegation members include representatives from KAZNEXINVEST and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan as well as a number of Kazakh entrepreneurs, according to Tajik CCI.

Tajikistan is represented at the forum by representatives from appropriate ministries and organizations as well as business associations and industrial and commercial organizations

The objective of the forum is in promoting further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan and raising awareness of entrepreneurs from both countries of opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.  The forum participants are discussing concrete directions of bilateral economic cooperation and ways to expand cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

The forum is also dedicated to discuss the investment climate in Tajikistan and investment projects being implemented in the country as well as legal foundation for foreign investment laid in Tajikistan.  The following subjects will be discussed at the conference: import requirements and export opportunities of Tajikistan; trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan; and features of running international business in Tajikistan: advantages and problems.

A number of meetings between Tajik and Kazakh businesspeople are expected to take place on sidelines of the forum, the source at Tajik CCI said.  Thus, the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) and Kazakhstan’s JSC Aktyubrentgen are expected to sign a protocol of intent.

Kazakh delegation is also scheduled to hold talks with Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev.
