DUSHANBE, September 6, 2010, Asia-Plus — On Friday September 3, President Emomali Rahmon received a delegation of the Japanese House of Representatives, according to presidential press service.
The sides discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Japan.
President Rahmon, in particular, noted that Japan was reliable partner of Tajikistan in Asia. According to him, Tajikistan and Japan’s similar positions on many regional and international issues promote expansion and strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The sides expressed mutual interest in expansion of interaction between Tajikistan and Japan in implementation of regional projects, in particular in the transportation and communication spheres that will promote stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
In the course of the talks, the sides expressed satisfaction with the process of implementation of the Action Plan of the Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue.
The Tajik head of state expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for an active participation in implementation of social economic projects in Tajikistan as well as the project aimed at rehabilitating the road connecting Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The sides expressed confidence that a number of energy and transport projects will be implemented in Tajikistan and Central Asia in the near future with financial and technical support for Japan, the press service said.
The delegation of the Japanese House of Representatives, led by Mr. Muneo Suzuki, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, arrived in Dushanbe on Friday for a three-day visit. During its stay in Tajikistan, the delegation held meetings with a number of high-ranking Tajik state officials.
