DUSHANBE, September 4, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The September 3 blast at the Sughd regional division to combat organized crime that comes just two weeks after the jailbreak in Dushanbe is an alarming sign, political scientist Abdughani Mamadazimov told Asia-Plus Saturday afternoon.

According to him, it is the jailbreak that provoked further incidents.  “It is not the last incident in this link that may last till Independence Day (September 9), I am afraid,” Mamadazimov said.

It would appear to be the first suicide bombing in Tajikistan.  “It is the first time that the Baghdad or so-called Chechen method is used in Tajikistan.  This method is not characteristic of Tajiks that is a very alarming sign,” the political scientist noted.

“It is very dangerous because after comparative quiet and stabilization the number of people waiting for changes is increasing and a sharp stratification of society is taking place,” said the expert, “Some people are unhappy with unjustified long jail terms, others are not satisfied with methods used by law enforcement officers during investigation and interrogation, and other people are dissatisfied with stagnation of public management system.  All this is breeding ground for nervous situation in the country.”

“On the other hand, if we look deeper, we will see that the last parliamentary elections have not yet been impartially assessed,” added Mamadazimov, “After the last parliamentary elections the coalition of discontented people has expanded.  We know that one of groups discontented with the elections results is the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), but I do not think that IRPT is involved in the Khujand attack.”
