DUSHANBE, August 16, 2010, Asia-Plus – The Ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Jakub Salimov can be transfered to a prison till September, 9th. His relatives informed about it “AP”. We were informed that, ostensibly, recently the Minister of Justice of Republic has declared that he has already signed the corresponding document. Also  Jakub should be transfered to a prison which is located behind of the Republican SAI up to Independence Day (September 9) – said they.

Meanwhile, the Administration of corrective affairs of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic does not informed about it. According to the first deputy chief Hudomon Muborakkadamov, we did not receive any document concerning this fact. The Ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Jakub Salimov is in a pre-trial prison of the Ministry of Justice RT almost five and a half years, from the date of sentence announcement.

He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment with term serving in a high security colony on April 24, 2005. By the Supreme Court of the Republic J.Salimov was found guilty of high treason such as collusion with the purpose of capture of the power, gangsterism, abusing authority position. By court decisiont he is deprived of all military ranks and the state awards.

The closed litigation over Jakubom Salimovym lasted five months. Charges against Salimov has been brought still in 1997. In August, 1997 he has been accused of attempt of the organisation of the armed revolution and has left the country. But in 2003 he has been arrested in Russia and extradited to Dushanbe.

Jakub Salimov in the days of civil opposition (1992-1993) was the commander of one of National front groups. After reconciliation in December 1993 he was assigned the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. In 1995 he was dismissed from this post and was sent as the ambassador to Turkey where has worked more than a year. After returning in Dushanbe and till 1997 he headed Customs committee of the country.
