DUSHANBE, July 28, 2010, Asia-Plus — Nineteen facilities for the education sector, including seventeen schools to accommodate totaling 3,012 students, one gym, and five living rooms for teachers working with the branch of Tajik State Teachers’ Training University in Rasht district, have been built in Tajikistan since the beginning of this year, Minister of Education Abdujabbor Rahmonov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, three schools have been built in Shugnan, Rushan, and Ishkashim districts of Gorno Badakhshan.
12 additional classrooms to accommodate 288 students have been constructed and put in commission over the report period due the Catalytic Fund Grant, the minister said, noting the cost of the project was 1.5 million U.S. dollars.
“Besides, due to investment projects, implemented in the education sector, construction of 12 educational facilities consisting of 104 classrooms to accommodate totaling 4,920 students is going on,” said Rahmonov, “A total cost of these facilities is 12.89 million U.S. dollars and they are expected to be put in commission at the end of this year”
