Saudi Arabia increases Hajj pilgrim quota for Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, July 13, 2010, Asia-Plus — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj has increased the Hajj pilgrim quota for Tajik Muslims wanting to perform Hajj this year, Asia-Plus has leanred at the Committee for Religious Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan.

The source says 5,500 Muslims from Tajikistan may perform Hajj this year, while last year, the hajj pilgrim quota allocated by Saudi Arabia to Tajikistan was 5,200.the source added that registration of mosques and religious organizations was completed in the country at the end of last week.

“To-date, 332 Friday prayer mosques, 3,334 mosques for daily prayers and 27 central mosques have been registered in the country,” said the source, “Besides, 74 non-Muslim groups have registered with the Committee to this day.”  According to him, the number of the registered mosques for daily prayers has increased by 500.
