Dushanbe. June 25. “Asia-Plus” — The Government of Tajikistan is planning to hire international consultants and set up two groups for engineer and technical safety of dams and environmental and social issues. Experts will be hired at the expense of funds allocated by the World Bank, Barqi Tojik power and light holding told the AP.

According to the source, individual consultants will be hired in accordance with WB procedures. Technical assignment for consultants has already been prepared and will be submitted to the World Bank for consideration and approval within the nearest time.

Barqi Tojik also said that individual consultants will be hired apart from consulting companies, which will be selected among companies and consortiums through tender procedures organized for selection of contractor and conduction of feasibility study and environmental and social expertise of the Rogun hydropower plant.

“Envelopes with technical proposals from companies which participated in tender were opened by Barqi Tojik in middle June. All the proposals are considered in accordance with conditions specified in the invitation for submission of proposals in line with tender procedures for selection of international consulting companies for conduction of feasibility study and evaluation of environmental and social impact of the construction of Rogun hydropower plant,” the source said.

It added that all proposals were carefully studied and are now being evaluated. Companies that will carry out feasibility study and environmental expertise will be selected after the end of evaluation stage.
