Dushanbe. June 23. “Asia-Plus” — Two hydroelectric units for Rogun hydropower plant will be purchased for funds gained from sale of shares of Rogun HPP public corporation, Deputy Finance Minister of Tajikistan Jamshed Norinov told the AP.
He said that initially it was planned to spend these funds for the purchase of technologic equipment and spend government’s resources for salaries and construction works. “Funds that are spent for the purchase of machinery and equipment for Rogun are separated from free resources for which the government announced tender among national saving banks,” Norinov has said.
According to Tajik Ministry of Finance, free funds gained from sale of Rogun shares and which are deposited in Tajik commercial and state-owned banks total 347,1mln Somoni (USD$80mln). Total amount of funds gained from sale of Rogun shares makes nearly 820mln Somoni so far.
Ukrainian enterprise of Elektrotyazhmash has already started to design equipment for Tajikistan’s Rogun HPP.
Under the contract worth over $40mln, which was signed in March this year, Elektrotyazhmash will design, produce and deliver to Rogun HPP two 400 megawatt hydroelectric generators, the plant’s press service reported.
According to the plant, the first unit will be delivered by the end of 2011, while the second generator will be delivered by the end of 2012.
“Rogun HPP will have a total of six 600 megawatt blocks. According to the project, first two 400-megawatt blocks have provisional character and the construction of the dam will continue with the launch of these two units. As soon as the following four 600-megawatt blocks are ready, production capacity of the first two will be increased up to the required level through modernization of hydroelectric generators and turbines so as the total productive capacity of the station will reach 3.600 megawatt,” press service of the plant has said.
