KULOB, May 13, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Kulob airport is making preparations for opening of new air routes to the Russian Federation.

The Kulob airport director Ali Komilov says practically everything is ready for launching new air routes to the Russian cities of Yekaterinburg and Saratov.

According to him, East Air will operate flights on these routes once a week.  “East Air is a Dubai airline registered in Tajikistan and based in Kulob,” said Komilov, “The company will use Boeing 737-200 to operate these flights.”

East Air is a charter airline providing charter services for various airlines.  The East Air fleet consists of an all-Boeing 737 aircraft: 2 Boeing 737-200s; 2 Boeing 737-300s; and 3 Boeing 737-400s

According to Wikipedia, one of East Air’s Boeing 737-200s is operated for Tajik national air carrier, Tajik Air, and one of its Boeing 737-300s is operated for Icar Air.  As far as East Air’s Boeing 737-400s are concerned, one of them is operated for Eastok Avia, one for Iraqi Airways and one is stored at VCV (Southern California Logistics Airport, also known as Victorville Airport, is a public airport located in the city of Victorville in
