DUSHANBE, May 6, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The Dushanbe mayor’s office plans to donate apartments to veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 who born in Dushanbe.

Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev remarked this today while inaugurating the Tajik-Russian joint venture in Dushanbe.

He noted that Tajikistan denounced any attempts to revise the history of World War II and to falsify its results.  It was the Soviet people who made a key contribution to the victory over fascism, Ubaidulloyev said.

“Today, many irresponsible politicians try to rewrite the history of World War II and to underestimate the role of the Soviet people in defeating fascism,” said the mayor, “But we, residents of Tajikistan, will always estimate the results of World War II objectively, preserving friendship between the peoples of the former Soviet Union.”

“After May 9, I will strive to provide war veterans born in Dushanbe with apartments,” Ubaidulloyev said, adding that there are some 10-12 such war veterans in Dushanbe.
