DUSHANBE, May 6, 2010, Asia-Plus — An official opening of Tajik-Russian textile enterprise, Dushanbe-Tex, took place in Dushanbe on May 6.
Inaugurating the enterprise, Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev noted that the main task of the enterprise administration was to ensure production of high-quality competitive products that would promote improvement of living standards of the enterprise workers.
The mayor expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that an average monthly wage of specialists working for the open joint-stock company (OJSC), Tajiktekstil (Tajik textile), was only 524 somoni, while last year’s average monthly wage in Dushanbe was some 640 somoni. He noted that it was very difficult to live in city on such a low salary.
Although financial opportunities of the enterprises are still not as high as one would like them to be, but it is necessary to pay more attention to creation of new jobs, Ubaidulloyev said, adding that creation of one job in Dushanbe now requires 5,000 U.S dollars.
Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, said the enterprise with capacity of processing 4,000 tons of cotton per year had been launched by OJSC Tajiktekstil and the Moscow limited liability company, Biznes Resheniye (Business Solution).
The sides have invested 4 million U.S dollars in this project (US$2 million each) and the joint venture has created 150 new jobs for residents of Dushanbe, the spokesman said.
According to him, the enterprise will produce a high-quality yarn meeting international standards.
