DUSHANBE, May 5, 2010, Asia-Plus — By May 5, Tajikistan has reached 75.3 percent of the spring conscription target, Faridoun Mahmadaliyev, a chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
In the territorial cross section the percentage the target reached were: Gorno Badakhshan – 77.1 percent; Khatlon – 84.8 percent; districts subordinate to the center (RRPs) – 68.9 percent; Sughd – 71.3 percent; and Dushanbe – 69.2 percent.
The city of Norak as well as districts of Murgab, Rushan, Shugnan, Zafarobod, Varzob, Tavildara, Baljuvon, Khovaling, and Nosir Khusrav have already fulfilled their conscription targets, the spokesman said.
The spring conscription campaign is carried out from April through May, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
