DUSHANBE, April 23, 2010, Asia-Plus — The 2nd Dushanbe Jazz Festival will take place from April 30 to May 3.
Ms. Amal Khanum Gadjiyeva, public relations officer, Bactria Cultural Center in Dushanbe, told reporters on April 22 that the festival is funded by the Culture and Arts Program of the Swiss Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Tajikistan and held by the Bactria Cultural Center in Dushanbe in cooperation with Tajik National Conservatory named after T. Sattorov.
Tajik bands Dajsh (phonetically spelled), Avesto, Payvand and Mizrob will participate in the festival. In addition to home musicians, bands from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will participate in the festival as well.
The festival is aimed to promote creation of opportunities for regional cooperation in Central Asia through music and jam sessions and master classes will be held at Tajik National Conservatory on sidelines of the festival.
The festival creative director Firouz Ulmasov noted that this year, the main goal of Tajik musicians participating in the festival was in seeking and developing national forms of jazz in Tajikistan.
