ISFARA, April 8, 2010, Asia-Plus  — The first group of recruits from Sughd’s Isfara district, numbering 50 people, has been sent to serve in the army.

The Isfara chief recruitment officer, Colonel Abdusattor Rizoyev, says that more than 240 young men from isfara will be called up for military service during the ongoing spring conscription campaign.

This year, President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree on the spring conscription campaign in Tajikistan on March 9.  The same decree provides for the retirement from active duty of soldiers and sergeants whose service under conscription is over.

Young Tajiks are drafted into the country’s armed forces from April through May 2010.  The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
