DUSHANBE, April 7, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On April 13, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Tajikistan, Mr. Makoto Ojiro, will address issues related to the economic performance in Tajikistan in 2009 and the economic prospects for 2010-2011, according to press release issued by the ADB Tajikistan Resident Mission (TJRM).

What was the economic performance of Tajikistan in 2009? What are the economic prospects of the country for 2010 and 2011? Has Tajikistan”s rebound from the global economic crisis taken a firm hold? What are the key development challenges facing Tajikistan?

The ADB’s Country Director for Tajikistan Makoto Ojiro, and Economics Officer Qahhor Aminov TJRM, will address these issues and others at the launch of the Asian Development Outlook 2010 (ADO), ADB’s flagship economic publication. It includes comprehensive economic analysis of more than 40 economies in developing Asia and the Pacific. The ADO examines the medium-term prospects for developing Asia, by country and by sub region – East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central and West Asia, and the Pacific.

This year”s ADO special theme, “Macroeconomic Management Beyond the Crisis,” explores how authorities in developing Asia can effectively manage their macroeconomic policies for sustained growth in the aftermath of the global financial crisis and economic downturn. The chapter will touch on issues such as monetary policy frameworks, exchange rate regimes, fiscal sustainability, and the use of macroeconomic policy tools to help rebalance the region”s growth.
