DUSHANBE, February 21, Asia-Plus – Today, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Iran signed a tripartite agreement on the construction of power-transmission line from Tajikistan via Afghanistan to Iran and Pakistan as well as other countries, Tajik Energy Minister, Jurabek Nurmahmadov, told journalists following the document-signing ceremony.
According to him, the main with voltage of 500 kilovolt will transmit electric power from Roghun, Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 power plants (once the power stations are built) to Kunduz (Afghanistan), from there to Heart (Afghanistan) and from there to Mashhad (Iran). In near future, the sides will set up a working group “that will deal with planning and working out these works.” He added that the working group would provide information on the work done to the governments of

and
Iran

Besides,
Tajikistan
and
Afghanistan
signed an agreement on the construction of the power-transmission line from

to
Afghanistan
, according to Nurmahmadov. The Tajik minister noted that once the hydropower plants Roghun, Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 were built,
Tajikistan
would annually supply 300 megawatt/hour of electricity to
Afghanistan
and 1,000 megawatt/hour of electric power to
Pakistan
.
Jurabek Nurmahmadov also noted that the same agreement would also been signed with
Iran

Tajikistan
would annually supply more than 1000 megawatt/hour of electricity to
Iran
.
We will recall that President Rahmonov telling the groundbreaking ceremony for Sangtuda-2 station yesterday said that it would be completed in about 3 ? years, and is expected to generate a billion kilowatt/hours a year.
