Thanks to the professionalism of its employees and clear goals, Asia-Plus has evolved from a regular news bulletin to the largest media holding, said Jovid Muqim, journalist, media researcher, and professor at Tajik National University (TNU), on the occasion of the media group’s 30th anniversary.
“I know Asia-Plus as an impartial media outlet that strictly adheres to the basic principles of journalism. Their news and articles always convey the pain of society, yet they maintain neutrality. They have never resorted to insults and continue to uphold this standard,” he emphasized.
According to the expert, this success is attributed to the efforts of Umed Babakhanov, the founder and editor-in-chief of Asia-Plus, who managed to establish a news agency, newspaper, and radio station that meets international standards.
“What we see today is the result of the leader’s efforts and, of course, the entire team. If the journalists worked carelessly or unprofessionally, the media group would not have achieved such development,” Jovid Muqim added.
The researcher noted the transformation of the holding: initially, the newspaper and news agency operated in Russian and English languages, but now priority is given to the Tajik language. According to him, the Tajik editorial team consists of many talented young people who handle the bulk of the work, allowing Asia-Plus to stay ahead in delivering information.
Jovid Muqim also highlighted the media group’s contribution to staff training and the use of modern technologies, mentioning that Asia-Plus was one of the first to start implementing artificial intelligence in their work.
As a wish, the expert urged the publication to always remain true to its principles:
“I hope all materials fully meet the standards of quality journalism — impartial and realistic. Asia-Plus is an authoritative agency, and it is important to avoid topics typical of the yellow press.”
In conclusion, Jovid Mukim noted the role of the publication in protecting national interests: “And both in the region and in the world, Asia-Plus supports the national interests of Tajikistan. If it were not so, it would not have lasted for 30 years. No other independent or private media outlet has achieved such longevity.”
The professor wished the Asia-Plus Media Group to celebrate many more 30-year anniversaries.
