DUSHANBE, December 16, 2009, Asia-Plus — Chairman of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Sharif Said, yesterday met here with delegation of Indian textile company, Sunil Trading Co, led by its top manager Ramesh Verma, according to the CCI press service.
The main purpose of the visit is for the Indian delegation to seek business partners in Tajikistan and consider issues related to purchase of Tajik cotton, export of rice, vegetable oil, haricots and sugar to Tajikistan and so forth.
In the course of the talks, Mr. Verma noted that his company was considering the possibility of delivery of its products to Tajikistan. However, lack of direct flights makes these deliveries difficult.
For his part, Mr. Said noted that that issue had been discussed at a meeting of leaders of Tajikistan and India and it would be solved positively. He also offered Indian entrepreneurs to open a shop for realizing Indian goods in Dushanbe. Besides, the CCI head offered to launch a joint cotton-processing venture in Tajikistan.
The sides also discussed prospects of cooperation in the field of processing industry (processing leather, cocoons, wools and other farm produce).
