DUSHANBE, December 11, 2009, Asia-Plus  — The Dushanbe heat and power station that was introduced into operation today is currently supplying heat to the majority of residential buildings and enterprises in Dushanbe’s Shohmansour and Ismoili Somoni districts, Nozirjon Yodgori, a spokesman for Barqi Tojik power holding, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.

According to him, the station is currently generating some 30,000 kWh of electricity and 120,000 gigacalories of heat per day, using 150 tons of fuel oil and 200,000 cubic meters of natural gas for that.

“The station now has more than 14,600 tons of fuel oil that should be enough until the end of the heating season and in case of necessity, Barqi Tojik is ready to purchase fuel oil from abroad,” the spokesman said.

In the meantime, the Dushanbe heat and power station director Umarali Niyozov told Asia-Plus on December 3 that to operate in full capacity, the plant needs 80,000 cubic meters of natural gas or 70 tons of fuel oil per hour.  According to him, the station that was built in 1968 has capacity of 198MW and 357 gigacalories.
