As part of a series of special interviews marking the 30th anniversary of the Asia-Plus Media Group, political scientist Saifullo Safarov shared his views on the achievements and challenges of the media outlet.
Safarov, the former first deputy director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan and current head of the Association of Political Scientists of Tajikistan, described Asia-Plus as “a favorite child of Tajikistan” and said it could one day become “the best book of our history.”
According to him, Asia-Plus has evolved into a truly national media organization whose content is followed not only across Tajikistan but also abroad.
“People around the world learn about Tajikistan through Asia-Plus, form opinions about the country, and express their views based on its reporting,” Safarov said.
He believes one of the key reasons Asia-Plus has managed to grow and maintain its position despite challenges facing the media sector in Tajikistan and the wider region is its commitment to objectivity.
“The Asia-Plus Media Group has a very precise and accurate understanding of reality. For this reason, the authorities have a positive attitude toward such media,” Safarov noted.
