KHUJAND, September 28, 2009, Asia-Plus — A system of protection of child’s right has been set up at the Sughd Center for Additional Education in Khujand.

The system dedicated to provide legal support to children in need has been launched within the framework of the project, Children – Partners in the Process of Monitoring Child’s Rights in Tajikistan, which is sponsored by the European Union, the project coordinator, Ms. Surayo Zuhurova, remarked at the regional conference entitled “Child’s Rights and Law” in Khujand don September 28.

According to her, the coalition of civil society for child’s rights has been established within the framework of the project.  The coalition comprising local officials, teachers, parents and representatives from NGOs has been monitoring the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child in the country.

This two-year project was launched in 2008 and since that time, surveys on violation of child’s rights have been conducted in Dushanbe, Gorno Badakhshan, Sughd and Khatlon, Zuhurova said.
