Farmers in Khatlon’s Kulob zone gather the first 3,000 tons of cotton

KULOB, September 14, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Cotton-growing districts in Khatlon’s Kulob zone have gathered the first 3,000 tons of cotton by September 14, Asia-Plus has learned from Abdullo Rajabov, a leading specialist with the Kulob agriculture directorate.

“Currently, Vose district tops the cotton-growing districts in the Kulob zone in terms of cotton harvesting,” said Rajabov, “The Vose cotton farmers have yielded 2,210 tons of raw cotton to this date, which is 10.5 percent of their target.  The remaining cotton-growing districts in the region have just begun the cotton-harvesting campaign.”

The Kulob zone is expected to yield 69,785 tons of raw cotton this year.
