DUSHANBE, February 3, 2009, Asia-Plus — On Monday February 2, Prime Minster Oqil Oqilov visited the Norak hydroelectric power station (HPS) to closely monitor the current situation on the plant.

According to Barqi Tojik power holding, the station top managers told the prime minister that because of the law rate of water inflow into the reservoir powering the station, only three of nine units of the station now operated, generating some 790,000 kW per hour.  Two other units are currently under major repairs.

The prime minister demanded at the meeting that repairs to those two units should be completed as soon as possible and the power holding should develop a project for rehabilitation of the plant and submit it for consideration to the government, the source at Barqi Tojik said.
