DUSHANBE, August 19, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is working out a draft national cotton subsector development program for 2010-2015.
The source at the Research Institute, Ziroatkori, within the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, said that the program would be submitted for consideration to the government by the end of this year.
“The program provides for increasing average cotton yields up to 3 tons/ha by 2015 bringing,” said the source, “To achieve this goal we plan to develop selection works, improve land reclamation, and purchase new agricultural machines and mineral fertilizers as well as enhance land treatment.”
