DUSHANBE, August 6, 2009, Asia-Plus — The first session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan that was held in Dushanbe on August 6 resulted in signing of four cooperation documents,
Speaking to reporters after the session, Tajik Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi said that they had considered a number of issues related to further expansion of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
“We reached mutual understanding practically on all issues that were discussed,” Tajik minister said, expressing hope that the session that had been organized on the instructions of the leaders of both states would open a new page in history of relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Kadyrbek Sarbayev, signed the protocol of the session, the program of cooperation between MFAs of the two countries for 2009-2010, the protocol on exchange of notes on ratification of the agreement on military cooperation between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and the protocol on exchange of notes on ratification of the agreement on the procedure for stay of and interaction between officers of the law enforcement and special agencies in the territories of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
