Speaking at a government meeting on July 3, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov reported on the outcome of negotiations conducted within the framework of his visit to the United States of America. According to the Foreign Minister, in the course of meetings with senior U.S. State Department officials the U.S. side confirmed its willingness to continue building up a constructive interstate dialogue that meets the interests of the peoples of both countries and responds to the challenges to security and sustainable development of the Central Asian region.

The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed support of the U.S. government for the policy pursued by Turkmenistan, including the diversification of development of the national fuel and energy complex and the international initiative put forth by the leader of Turkmenistan to ensure global energy security.

Representatives of political and business circles of the United States, namely the heads of “Chevron” and “Exxon Mobil” companies expressed “great interest in strengthening and expanding partnership whose potential is significant enough to resolve the most ambitious tasks.”

Stressing the importance of developing a productive dialogue with the United States in the context of foreign policy priorities of Turkmenistan and noting its high dynamics, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov outlined prospects for Turkmen-American cooperation, taking into account the national interests of both countries, as well as trends in global development.
