DUSHANBE, July 3, 2009, Asia-Plus — Known Tajik prose writer and playwright Mehmon Bakhti has been reelected chairman of Tajik Writers’ Union.
The congress of writers and poets of Tajikistan that was held at the Tajik Drama Theatre named after Abulqosim Lohouti in Dushanbe on July 3 brought together 350 delegates from all regions of the country.
Four known writers and poets such as Gulnazar Keldy, Glrukhsor Safiyeva, Ato Hmadam and Mehmon Bakhti himself were nominated to this post and the congress delegates unanimously voted for Mehmon Bakhti and will head the Writers’ Union for the next five years.
