DUSHANBE, May 27, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev yesterday received Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Ali Asghar Sherdoust.

Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the upper house speaker, said the sides had discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.  They, in particular, exchanged views on introduction of Iranian laser medicine technologies in Tajikistan.

Ubaidulloyev noted that Tajikistan had laid necessary legal foundation of attraction and protection of foreign investments.

The sides agreed that it was necessary to bring relations between the two countries to qualitatively new level despite the ongoing financial and economic crisis, the aide said.
