DUSHANBE, May 21, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia will pay to the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) Anti-crisis Fund 1 million U.S. dollars each. Such a decision was made at a meeting of the EAEC council for financial and economic policy in Moscow yesterday, Russia’s news agency RIA Novosti reports.
RIA Novosti cited Russian Finance Minister Aleksey Kudrin as saying that the anti-crisis fund would begin working after ratification of the fund establishment agreement by heads of government of the EAEC member nations within the next three months.
Russian minister noted that the meeting had discussed a number of serious issues, including the EAEC plan of anti-crisis measures, and endorsed a draft agreement on establishment of the anti-crisis fund.
Kudrin noted that all member nations of the Community, except Belarus, had already solved issues related to their contributions to the anti-crisis fund. The authorized capital stock of the fund is planned to amount 10 billion U.S. dollars. Russia will contribute $7.5 billion, Kazakhstan – $1 billion, and Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia – $1million each.
Decision on providing anti-crisis loans to the fund’s member states will be made by the fund board that will consist of EAEC fiancé ministers.
The EAEC members are now Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Armenia, Moldova and Ukraine have observer status.
