DUSHANBE, January 21, 2009, Asia-Plus — Tajik private university, The Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications, intends to establish department for training specialists in innovative technologies, the university chancellor Khayol Boboyev told reporters in Dushanbe on January 20.
He noted that in the new academic year, the university would also arrange the study of a number of other disciplines that were not available in other universities of the country.
Boboyev pointed to the necessity of regulating the study of specialties in the country’s universities in order to avoid duplication. “At present, several universities in the country offer the same specialty. It would be better if we arrange the study of specialties that are now in demand in the country,” said the chancellor, “Moreover, a special attention should be paid to quality rather than quantity.”
The Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications now have seven faculties: world economy; management; information systems and technologies; international relations; provision linguistic services for intercultural communication; and international law.
The Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications, still the only private higher education institution in Tajikistan, was established in 2003 as the International University of Tajikistan. In 2006, the International University of Tajikistan was renamed the Humanitarian University. In April 2007, the Humanitarian University was renamed and registered as the Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications.
The Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications now has more than 1,700 students. In academic year 2008-009, 543 persons entered this higher education institution. Students pay tuition fees at the rate of 500 US dollars per year to study at the Institute of Innovative Technologies and Communications.
