KULOB, December 30, 2008, Asia-Plus — The branch of Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) in Khatlon’s Farkhor district has been awarded a car Niva-Chevrolet for the best results on return of 50 percent of cotton loans by December 1, Izatullo Rahmonov, head of Amonatbonk’s branch in Kulob, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, cotton farmers in Farkhor have already returned 62 percent of loans to this date. Amonatbonk’s branch in Farkhor has provided 3.755 million somoni in loans to local cotton-growing farms this year.
In all, Amonatbonk has provided 8.22 million somoni in loans to farming units in four cotton-growing districts of Khatlon’s Kulob region this year. “Cotton farmers have returned 6,218,353 somoni by December 30,” Rahmonov said, noting that in the Kulob region, Amonatbonk provided loans to more than 200 cotton-growing farms.
