KULOB, August 2, 2011, Asia-Plus — A court in the city of Kulob has issued an arrest warrant for local resident Mahmadullo Inoyatov for allegedly raping his daughter.

Davlat Najmiddinov, chief of the organized crime control unit within the Kulob police department, told Asia-Plus today that the 49-year-old Mahmadullo Inoyatov has been arrested in Kulob for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter for the past two years.  “Based on the girl’s statement, her father was arrested on August 1.”

According to Najmiddinov, Inoyatov who does not work has three wives; two of them live in Kulob and the third one lives with her daughter, who suffered at the hands of her father, in Vose district.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Mahmadullo Inoyatov under three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 138 – raping; Article 164 – preventing children from obtaining basic general education; and Article 170 – bigamy or polygamy.
