DUSHANBE, August 2, 2011, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized a large amount of hashish in Vahdat district, some 20 kilometers east of Dushanbe.
According to DCA press center, drug control officers found a package of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some 20 kilograms hidden in the house of 29-year-old resident of the Dusti jamoat on August 1.
As it turned out the seized narcotics belonged to householder’s nephew, I.N. I.N, reportedly bought the narcotics from Afghan national and was going to transport them to Kyrgyzstan via Jirgatol district, the source said.
I.N. was arrested and criminal proceedings were instituted against him under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale drug trafficking. Investigation is under way.
