DUSHANBE, October 6, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Deputy chief of the State Committee on National Security (SCNS)’s office in Khatlon’s Shouroobod district, Senior Lieutenant Vafodor Qutbiddinov, faces bribery charge, according to the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.

The source in the anticorruption agency says Qutbiddinov demanded US$1,000 from local resident.  “Qutbiddinov said if he does not bring the money he will institute criminal proceedings against him on charge of drug trafficking,” the source noted.

According to him, Qutbiddinov was caught red-handed while taking US$600 form that man in his office.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him under the provisions of Article 319 (1) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribery; an investigation is under way.   By court’s decision Qutbiddinov was released on bail.
