DUSHANBE, October 12, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The bee-keeping bill has caused lively debates in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament); the debates arose not over any fundamental issues but over linguistic inaccuracies.

A regular sitting of the third session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the fourth convocation, presided over by its head, Shukurjon Zuhurov, took place on October 12.

The draft law on bee-keeping caused lively debates.  The debates arose not over any fundamental issues but over linguistic inaccuracies.  The draft law was returned as requiring improvement.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon spokesman harshly criticized work of the Majlisi Namoyandagon committees and commissions that had considered the draft law during several months and had not revealed those linguistic inaccuracies.

This draft law was worked out by a group of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon and they consider that adoption of the law would lead to 30-40 percent increase in production of honey in the country.

Speaking at the session, Minister of Agriculture Qosim Qosimov noted that Tajikistan now produces some 3,000 tons of honey per year.
