DUSHABE, November 8, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Yet another BarCamp format event will take place in Dushanbe.  The fourth regional forum titled “Digital Youth of Central Asia (DYCA)” will kick off in the Tajik capital on November 12.

The forum will run through November 15 and its participants will have an opportunity not only to share their experience and knowledge but also to offer their idea and implement it.

Preference will be given to projects worked out in following directions: offering electronic services to citizens; and information technologies in education and management.

The forum participants will also be able to participate in the project fair that will be held on the sidelines of the DYCA forum and will have an opportunity to win financial support.

We will recall that the third DYCA forum was held in Dushanbe in October 2010.  Organized by the Center for Information Communication Technologies under financial support of the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF-Tajikistan), the third DYCA forum brought together more than 160 participants from different countries, but mainly from Tajikistan (more than 130 people), Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran.

The main idea of the forum was to gather technically well-educated and active youth, and have them share ideas and experiences, create networks that will put the start for further mutual endeavors.

The partners in organization of the event were the Ministry of Education of Tajikistan, Independent School of Journalism “Tajikistan – 21st Century,” and the Branch of Moscow State University in Dushanbe.  The general partner was closed joint-stock company, TT-Mobile (MLT).

The event participants considered issues related to use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by youth of the region.  They also discussed access to information, use of Internet in rural and border areas of Tajikistan, development of electronic media, blogging, development of web-resources, organization of information security and so forth.

A parallel program included presentations and master-classes on use of ICTs in education, financial and health sectors, entrepreneurship, tourism, electronic commerce, etc.
