DUSHANBE, December 14, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to German started yesterday with attending Siemens AG, according to the presidential press service.

President Rahmon familiarized himself with activities of the company and offered to open the Siemens regional office in Tajikistan.   

Siemens AG is a German multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Munich, Germany.  It is the largest Europe-based electronics and electrical engineering company.  Siemens is an integrated technology company with activities in the fields of industry, energy and healthcare.  It is organized into six main divisions: Industry; Energy, Healthcare; Equity Investments; Siemens IT Solutions and Services; and Siemens Financial Services (SFS).  Siemens and its subsidiaries employ approximately 420,800 people across nearly 190 countries.

On the same day, the Tajik head of state visited the Bosch company.  The company management reportedly expressed interest in establishing trade with Central Asia’s countries through Tajikistan.  

Robert Bosch GmbH (commonly known as Bosch) is a multinational engineering and electronics company headquartered in Gerlingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. It is the world”s largest supplier of automotive components.  The company was founded by Robert Bosch in Stuttgart in 1886. Bosch”s core products are automotive components (including brakes, controls, electrical drives, electronics, fuel systems, generators, starter motors and steering systems), industrial products (including drives and controls, packaging technology and solar panels) and consumer goods and building products (including household appliances, power tools, security systems and thermotechnology).  Bosch reportedly has more than 350 subsidiaries across over 60 countries and its products are sold in around 150 countries.

On December 13, President Rahmon also held talks with a group of members of the Bundestag (the national parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany).  Expansion of parliamentary ties between Tajikistan and Germany was a major topic of the meeting.

The Bundestag members highly appraised a role of Tajikistan in Central Asia and in seeking solution to the Afghan problems and expressed interest in further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Germany and Tajikistan, especially in use of our water-and-energy resources for development of Afghanistan and Pakistan, the source said.
