DUSHANBE, December 11, 2008, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday December 10, President Emomali Rahmon presided over a government meeting to review Tajikistan’s economic results in 2008 and set tasks for 2009, according to presidential press service.

Speaking at the meeting, Finance Minister Safarali Najmuddinov, Tax Committee Chairman Hakim Soliyev and Customs Service Chief Gurez Zaripov noted that 4.5365 billion somoni had been transferred to the national budget in January-November this year, which was 311 million somoni more than it was originally planned and 1.4355 billion somoni more than in the same period of last year.

During the meeting, it was note that the tax and customs collection targets were over fulfilled by 6.3 and 26.2 percent respectively.

Energy and Industries Ministry Gul Sherali noted that work on construction of hydropower plants and power grids as well as rehabilitation of industrial enterprises was running in accordance with schedule.  

The autumn sowing campaign was one of topic majors of the meeting.  Agriculture Minister Qosim Qosimov reported on that issue.  The president pointed to the necessity of taking adequate measures to make preparations for the spring sowing campaign.
