DUSHANBE, January 13, 2012, Asia-Plus — State and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Estonia were discussed here on Thursday (January 12) at a meeting of Tajik Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Homidullokhon Fakerov, with visiting Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT)’s press service reports.
The sides, in particular, discussed attraction of Estonian investments for production and processing of farm produce in Tajikistan, exchange of experience and cooperation in the scientific and cultural fields, the source said.
Estonian foreign minister arrived in Dushanbe Wednesday (January 11) afternoon on a three-day working visit. His visit is expected to result in signing of four cooperation documents.
Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Estonia were established on February 23, 2006.
According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Estonia in January-October 2011 has valued at US$2.482 million. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Estonia estimated at US$134,000 and Tajikistan’s imports from Estonia worth US$2.348 million.
