KHUJAND, November 28, 2008, Asia-Plus  — The Khujand-based joint-stock company (JSC) Lal (jar-manufacturing plant) has reduced productions volumes.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the Lal director general Mirzohalim Mirzokarimov said that they had reduced production volumes following a 40 percent decrease in production of goods by the Sughd canneries that resulted from the global financial crisis.

“Besides, the canneries that are experiencing decrease in demands for their products are paying for empty jars for their products irregularly,” said Mirzokarimov, “Therefore, our enterprise has failed to purchase enough soda ash, which is one of the main components for production of jars.”

“Thus in January-October 2007, we produced 11.343 million somoni worth of 60.62 million jars, while over the same period of this year, we have produced 4 million jars less,” the director general said, adding that at present only one of four lines of the enterprise is operating.
