During their meeting with the visiting President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon Tavildara residents asked Tajik President to resettle them to more safer places.

On Wednesday President Rahmon visited Rasht and Tavildara regions which suffered damage as a result of May 13 earthquake.

According to Tajik President’s press service, E.Rahmon visited Rasht region first and observed current situation in disaster-affected Langarak village of Kalai Surh Jamoat where he met with local residents.

It has become clear that 8 houses were totally and 16 partially destroyed in two villages of Rasht region. Some houses in Langarak village were destroyed by an avalanche caused by heavy rainfalls.

All victims were provided with foodstuffs, including flour, vegetable oil, sugar, rice and tents.

Head of state ordered responsible officials to restore houses in Rasht region till September this year and equip them with furniture.

President also ordered to resettle people from houses located in danger areas to safe places.

In the course of the visit to Tavildara region it has become clear that the disaster caused most severe damage to small rural houses built of clay and stones without cement or other construction materials.

These villages, including Rubotnol and Garibon, are located in mudslide and avalanche-prone areas. Residents of these villages urged the authorities to resettle them to safe places, including to regions of Khatlon area, President’s press service reported.
