DUSHANBE, November 19, 2008, Asia-Plus — Refresher course for Afghan school teachers was launched at Tajik State Teachers’ Training University in Dushanbe on November 19.
The refresher course is part of the project for advanced training of Afghan school teachers, which is implemented by Tajik State Teachers’ Training University in cooperation with the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA).
Speaking at a press conference dedicated to opening of the refresher course, the project manager, Ms. Nafisakhon Yunusova, said that the main objective of the project was to promote development of primary education in Afghanistan as well as establishment of long-term education cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
The project’s first stage includes refresher course for 15 primary school teachers from the Afghan province of Balkh.
Speaking to reporters, Tajik State Teachers’ Training University Chancellor Zarif Sharifov said that Tajik specialists are ready to provide support to their Afghan colleagues.
“In the course of implementation of the project, we plan to determine general tendency as well as needs and resources of educational process at Afghan primary schools, raise training potential and practical skills of Afghan teachers and create favorable conditions for development of exchange programs between Afghan and Tajik universities,” the chancellor said.
