Kazakh PM’s visit to Tajikistan postponed again

DUSHANBE, November 7, 2008, Asia-Plus  — An official visit of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov to Tajikistan has been postponed again, according to the Tajik MFA. 

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, the MFA spokesman Davlat Nazriyev said that Kazakh PM”s visit had been postponed for uncertain period.  According to him, additional information about date of Kazakh premier’s visit will be given later.    

Kazakh premier’s visit to Tajikistan has been postponed for the second time.  As it had been reported earlier, Masimov was supposed to arrive in Tajikistan on October 23-24 but then his visit was postponed till early November.    

The source at the Kazakh Embassy in Dushanbe that Prime Minister Kari Masimov would hold talks with President Emomali Rahmon, Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and some other high-ranking Tajik state officials.  

According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in January-September 2008 has valued at 206.5355 million US dollars, with Tajikistan’s imports from Kazakhstan estimated at more than 200 million dollars.
