DUSHANBE, October 15, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Tajikistan’s Ambassador Qozidavlat Qoimdodov presented his credentials as Ambassador to Estonia (with residence in Minsk, Belarus) on October 11 to President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves, the Tajik MFA information department reported.

At the meeting that was held after the credentials presentation ceremony, the sides reportedly exchanged views on state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Estonia as well as a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interesting.

The sides, in particular, noted that establishment of Tajik-Estonian commission for trade and economic cooperation would promote expansion of a two-way trade between the two countries.

In 2011, trade between Tajikistan and Estonia amounted to 2.654 million U.S. dollars, which was 30 percent more than in 2010.  Over the first six months of this year, trade between Tajikistan and Estonia has amounted to 7.016 million U.S. dollars.

They outlined sectors like industry, agriculture, and tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries, the source said.

The sides also discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Estonia in the field of transportation and communications and use of Estonia’s experience in development of information technologies.

During his stay in Tallinn, Ambassador Qoimdodov also held talks with Mrs. Ene Ergma, Speaker of Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu).

We will recall that on September 20, Qozidavlat Qoimdodov presented his credentials to President of Latvia Andris Berzins.

Tajikistan ensures its representation in Latvia and Estonia from Belarus.
