KHUJAND, February 22, Asia-Plus – The 37-year-old resident of the city of Khujand Gavhar Usmonova is wanted by the Sughd police on suspicion of having been active member of the banned religious “Hizb ut-Tahrir” organization.

According to information from the Sughd police directorate, Ms. Gavhar Usmonova as an active member of the “Hizb ut-Tahrir” party has been controlling and directing the activities of female members of the party and ensuring their loyalty to the party principles, as well recruiting new women to the organization.

“Since 2005, she has had two local women, the 32-year-old Muhayo Boboyeva and the 33-year-old Muqaddam Madaliyeva, subordinate to her,” the source said, noting that the Sughd prosecutor’s office has instituted criminal proceedings against her under Article 307 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code – public calls for forcible overthrow of the constitutional order in
