DUSHANBE, March 6, Asia-Plus  — A ceremony of handing over award presented by the “Borgohi Sukhan” Cultural Foundation for excellence in theatrical arts was held in Dushanbe on Saturday [February 4].

US$1,000 in prize money and certificate provided by the “Borgohi Sukhan” Foundation were handed over to theatrical troupe of the National Tajik Dramatic Theatre named after Abdulqosim Lohuti for comedian performance “The Throne of Sultan Mahmoud” authored by Shodi Soleh Takhti.

Chairman of the “Borgohi Sukhan” Foundation, Nizom Qosimov, says, “This performance ridicules us, employees of the culture sector, out errors and shortcomings.”  “We hope that thereby we will be able to give a certain impulse to development of our society,” Qosimov said, noting that several performances were nominated to this ward.  “However, in the opinion of juries, “The Thorne of Sultan Mahmoud” and the play “Karimi Devona” (Crazy Karim) by Mirzovatan Mirov were the main contestants to the award,” the “Borgohi Sukhan” Foundation head said.

According to the Asia-Plus interlocutor, many of the films and performances shown at the contests deal with the problems Tajik society faces but the main criteria for selection of best film and performance were their artistic value and new opinion of authors of the problems facing society.  “They should be made professionally and meet social status of the present time and show the present life,” Mr. Qosimov concluded.
