DUSHANBE, April 14, Asia-Plus – Tajikistan’s Committee for Religious Affairs is currently drafting a bill on freedom of religion and religious organizations, Murodullo Davlatov, Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 13. 

            According to him, the new law is needed for laying main legal foundations for regulating some aspects of religious interrelations. 

            “For example, the bill bans active missionary activity, when for material bests person is proposed to be converted to other religion,” said Mr. Davlatov, “Besides, the bill also bans propagation based on superiority of one religion over the another one.”

            “At present researchers and experts are considering the bill and we also plan to submit for consideration to the public as well as we are waiting for alternative versions of this bill,” Mr. Davlatov said.
